Hello, I'm Renee Stewart Bates, the Founder of Extreme Kid, Inc., and I'm joined by my Co-Founder and partner, Carmello Stewart. We are excited to introduce City of Hope Western, Central, & Eastern Massachusetts.
Our journey began in 2020, at the height of the pandemic, when Carmello and I set out to make a positive impact in our city. We started with an engaging S.T.E.M. program tailored for children in urban communities. Over the past three years, Extreme Science Kid has evolved into a Massachusetts non-profit known as Extreme Kid, Inc. During this time, we've had the privilege of serving over 600 children and families, organizing more than 20 vaccination clinics that reached 400 families, and securing grant funding to advance S.T.E.M. education across Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Our focus has been on underserved communities grappling with high crime rates, poverty, economic hardships, and health disparities. My family and I have operated with unwavering passion and dedication to minimize learning loss during the pandemic. Now, as we navigate the post-pandemic landscape, where issues like mental health, domestic violence, and economic challenges are on the rise, Extreme Kid Inc. is thrilled to introduce our new initiative, City of Hope West, Central, and East.
This program is designed to address the ongoing needs of children, teenagers, and families dealing with education setbacks, refugee acclimation, domestic and street violence, homelessness, substance abuse, mental and physical health barriers, and the lack of professional career development opportunities within our community. City of Hope is already making a dynamic impact in Massachusetts, and our goal at Extreme Kid Inc. is to expand this program to Central and Eastern Massachusetts by the end of 2024, beginning with Central Massachusetts by December 2023. Thank you for joining us on this journey of transformation and empowerment.
City of Hope West (413), Central (508), and East (617) are committed to providing comprehensive support to youth, helping them break free from the cycle of poverty, and empowering them to lead successful, independent lives. Our holistic approach focuses on education, creativity, career development, and overall well-being.
At Extreme Kid, Inc., we take great pride in our collaborative approach to making a positive impact in our communities. We've had the privilege of working alongside a diverse network of partners, including libraries, law enforcement agencies, community centers, high schools, foreign language services, government assistance programs like SNAP and TAFDC, MassHealth providers, Job Corps, the court system, advocacy programs, DCF, the conservation society, armories, summer camps, religious organizations, grocery stores, local government offices including the mayor's office and city council, state representatives, congressional leaders, banks, hospitals, radio and television stations, local volunteers, parents, restaurants, small businesses, other non-profit organizations, and countless individuals.
Our commitment to collaboration goes beyond past partnerships; it's integral to our mission. We will continue to engage with and leverage the expertise and resources of these valued partners as we work together to create a brighter future for our communities. Through these enduring partnerships, we aim to drive positive change, foster inclusivity, and empower youth and families with the support and opportunities they need to thrive."
